Although few would cite Antonio Caldara as one of the great baroque composers, the presentation of one of his works, Magdalene at the Feet of Christ, by BAS (Bilbao Ars Sacrum) and the Bilbao 700 Foundation is awakening interest because it concerns the contemporary composer and Vivaldi’s fellow countryman, who was highly considered by composers such as Bach, Telemann, Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven, and because his vibrant and emotional music, almost forgotten today, provokes a deep commotion and extraordinary feeling in the listener.
